More Dropbox

I have been doing some looking around at other options to DropBox.

There are no free ones.

Allmydata and LiveDrive are similar services that offer unlimited storage BUT you pay. Both offer iPhone connection like Dropbox.

So for the home user, Dropbox is the one.

DropBox Review

Ok. So I have been playing around with a new free program/service called DropBox.

Basically you can install it on PCs, Macs and iPhones. Whatever gets put in a folder on any device gets synced to all of your devices and gets saved in a secure online storage place.

This is very cool.

You get 2Gb of space free. This is more than enough for important documents like wills, accounts, CVs, scans of various certificates etc.

The really cool thing is that these documents are then available on any machine you have this service running on. If you change the document on one machine, it is updated on all machines!

This is great for collaborative working.

If you are not backing up your documents, now you can for free. It is easy and it is at a level that is better than most businesses have.

Oh... and if you ask me for an invite, you and I get an extra 250Mb space each!!!

New gate complete

Dropbox

I am playing with Dropbox.

Basically you get 2Gb of free space on the web that automatically syncs. You can sync it to multiple computers (and iPhones).

Pretty cool for backing up files (it means you get an offsite backup) and for moving data between computers.

AND IT IS FREE!!!

Katya post antibiotics

Katya is struggling a bit after coming off the antibiotics. She is taking a bit to get her gut re-established. Her rashes have gone though so I think we are just in for a bit of a re-adjustment.

So the ten weeks of antibiotics are not the end of the process.

Curry

Today we celebrated Katya coming off antibiotics by getting her favourite Indian food.
Larissa also got into the Indian food, although she looks not terribly enthusiastic in this pic. She ate a heap of it.

No more antibiotics!

Internet

I am currently looking at moving from our Telstra cable connection. We have been with Telstra for over 10 years (originally Saturn). However they have not reduced their price or increased their service for many years now. Other providers with their ADSL2 offerings are now substantially cheaper and if we get a good connection, potentially much faster.

Currently I am looking at (in order of likelihood):

Vodafone
Slingshot
WorldxChange

Lunch

Took the kids out to lunch today

Putting a processor on

This morning Katya was pretending to shower water on her head. I told her we don't do that with her processors on as they will get wet and she won't be able to hear. She proceeded to hold her processors behind her head and pretend to shower. This pic is of her reattacting the processor.

CI Self Management

In the last day or two Katya has learned how to put her CIs back on when they fall off. It is pretty exciting as it means the days of chasing after a 2 year old to put the CI back on are about to end. You need to realise it is particularly difficult because you can't tell her to stop when you do this... she can't hear you until you get the CI back on!!!

SO... we are pretty excited.

A few photos from the last week

At the J-ville play ground

All the practice with pushing dolls has paid off. Katya has graduated to pushing Larissa.

I chased this peacock away from our house at van Ash and he seems to have got offended. So he came back doing a big display and scratching the ground. SO I took a photo of his display and then chased him away. He scared Katya.

Testing from new blogpress lite software on iPhone

Some pics of Katya in a Plunket shirt I got while I worked there. It also shows I can insert more than one pic which is better than Blogwriter.

More fort construction

Larissa started rolling today

She was on the sheepskin but not for long. She has rolled in the past but not consistent.
