More Painting

My mum was down which allowed me to finally get onto our room and finish the revision to the stair way.

Rooms a bit of a tip at the moment. Just getting settled back in.

A bit of an update

Things are starting to go well at the moment.

Claire is coming off one of the drugs and it is making a huge difference. She is coming up tomorrow for an interview for a job and has another job that looks even better in the pipe line. We have scheduled that she will return to Wellington permanently on the 20th.

I have resigned from my job and will look after the kids etc from the 19th Oct. So basically we are doing a role swap. We think that Claire working will give her a bit of space to heal completely.

The plan is that we will get settled and then look to move Larissa back down here in a few weeks.

About the only thing not tracking is CYFS who are being quite unhelpful at the moment. Hopefully they can get themselves together and realise we have things tracking well and down't need their "help".

Tonight the husband of one of my colleagues came around and started plastering the alterations that we had to do to get consent. It is looking good. I plan to have that complete before Claire comes back.

I am looking forward to having my family back together although it will be very different not working and focusing on the kids.

Building consent finally approved

Tonight I finally got my building consent approved. The notice to fix is withdrawn and the approval will be sent out.

Final???... building work

I got bounced by the WCC for my building consent over the height of the ceiling in my stairs. This weekend my father and I made the alterations.

We had agreement we needed to achieve 1940mm height. We have achieved 1980mm as a minimum.

Thank God it is over!!!

I believe I started this building project in November last year. This week we got the carpet and flooring installed. Our house is now back to being fully functional.

It is immensely satisfying having completed (bar the final building inspection and a bit of painting) the project. However it has also been exhausting and not something I am keen to attempt for a few years.

Bit of an update

We have had a real struggle the last few weeks with PND. Claire is now back home and a lot more together. We have been very fortunate that my mother has been able to take time off work and support us.

Larissa is growing really well and is sleeping well at night. Today we had a hearing test on her which was positive and the audiologist says we have no worries. This is quite a relief.

Katya has been pressing forward in leaps and bounds. She has really enjoyed having her cousin who is a similar age staying. She has said no and is understanding a lot of what we are saying. We have had one processor adjusted in our last trip. We are not sure whether the adjustment is ok... she has been a bit inclined to remove the adjusted processor. We are making an effort to encourage her to adjust to it as we know it will be very close to being right.

The house is coming together. The top is all but finished with some flooring to come in over the next few weeks. Downstairs still needs a bit of painting.

I think our trials, which are still ongoing, are growing us. One day I would like to know why all this PND etc hit us. I do know it has made us more aware of the challenges that face many people in our society with mental illness. We are grateful we can wrestle these challenges in God's strength and rest in Him when we are overwhelmed.

Some of the guys from church came around and sorted my store room out for me. Absolutely awesome.

Finished Lights

The electrics

We are in the final stages of building. This is 2/3rds of what we demolished out of the house.

Mark came around and finished off the electrics. We now have lights.
These are magnets on the wall that were meant to hold the lights in like this...
HOWEVER... the glue had not set properly (even with 24hours) and they started to fall down. SO they now look like this...
I will post a photo of the completed lights, with glue solidified, when the painting is finished.

More painting

These are a couple of progress shots. The green is now done. I have finally got some Tangerine paint from Resene so have almost got tow coats of that up.

Tomorrow I will work on the second coat of the ceiling, mounting the lights and final touches to the study.

Then we can start moving stuff out of the lounge.

Let the painting begin

This morning I sealed the gib and added the little wooden bits around the bottom of the gib. Very fiddly work.




This evening I started painting the walls of the office, which is a priority as apparently this is where kid number two is going short term.

Gibbing finished

We have had Prestige Ceilings in to sort out the gibbing and plastering. It is all done. Now priming and painting.
